Fairy Fable

by Shædow Poet   Jul 16, 2005

Life, displayed for children,
Is an abundance of happiness;
Synthesis of pastel pink love-
Like a gift boxed with rainbow ribbon
Soft and silky, never rough.
It’s everlasting…

Like my daughter, she dreams of royalty
A castle with mosaic windows
And a scent of vanilla musk.
Her eyes are like a fireplace
And I almost cry for her naivety.
Life, is so depressing…

At night I tell her bedtime fables
Whilst the stars twinkle and the owls hoot,
I say with a voice so sweet, so soft:
“The princess kneeled in front of her prince
Feeling the love ascending with every breath
He was handsome, blonde hair…

And he told her to stand, he smiled gently
His deep blue eyes twinkled
They embraced in happiness!
Oh she was overcame by joy!
They kissed softly with eternal love;
And lived happily ever after.”

My daughter would giggle
She was like a ripe strawberry
And she’d ask, with an unreadable gaze:
“Mother, that book was so perfect,
And I love you very much...
But when is your prince coming back?”

    the ending was quite sad but it's true all these fairy tales give us a false sense of reality! Great poem anyways:)
