HE Had Other Plans

by NannO   Jul 19, 2005

"An angel on earth," they said
that day the boy was born
another face to the family portrait
a picture never to be torn
they looked down with a smile
at their newest family member
building up a future
a day they'd all remember

and the little boy did grow
to be a baby of two
with his cute little smile
crawling was all he cud do
but they had great expectations
of that angel from above
they took good care of him
and gave him so much love

"He'd grow up to be a doctor,"
"No, a lawyer," they said
but God had other plans for him
the boy got sick instead
so they rushed him to the hospitals
to find out what was wrong
"he has cancer," the men in white said
"He won't be around for long."

with broken hearts and tear-stained faces
his family prayed for him
"Oh, God, what are Your plans?"
their bright world was now dim

but then they came with renewed hope
those powerful men in white
they said, "It could help save his life,
and make it all alright."

the family sighed relief
thanking God for the second chance
"Thank you, God, he'll come home now."
but HE had other plans

they tried with the new medicine
trying to bring their angel home
of how they prayed that he won't have
to leave them all alone

there wasn't much hope in it
the boy wasn't getting any better
their angel would soon die
without having learned his letters

"Oh, God, please give us some sort of sign,
for we have lost our way."
"What are Your plans for our little boy,
and why can't he be here to stay?"

so one day the boy got better
long enough to tell
even though he hasn't learned his letters yet
they understood him well

they knew their little angel will be home in heaven
they understood with his glance
and with broken hearts and teary eyes they believed
that God had better plans
