The Darkness Within

The sun disappears and bids a final farewell
As I silently stand alone in this darkness of hell
Reliving dark moments of stories I won’t tell
Locked inside, only I will know where I fell

Rage and bitterness consume my already broken soul
From within, slowly this darkness begins to take hold
I stare into the sea of pain and misery of moments untold
Too tired to wage battle, I slowly succumb and lose my soul

The darkness within
Taints my ill and cold heart
The darkness within
From my old self I depart

The darkness within
Begins to rip me apart
The darkness within
Corrupts my every thought

With clenched fists I close my eyes
A fool was I for believing such lies
Standing in the center of blue and gray skies
I walk a fine line where the darkness hides

The moon hides behind a bloody thunderstorm
I look for a lonely star to wish things back to norm
I hope and pray for the strength to weather this dark storm
But cursed am I to become the beholder of this raging storm
