On this sad yet beautiful summer day
Partially tainted with skies of summer gray
A boy's heart slowly beats to the rhythm of summer dismay
As he realizes the truth of a true lover’s way

He looks back as he travels down the highway of memory lane
Reliving precious moments of a love that burns like Vulcan's flame
A tear freezes over, turning sunshine into loving sweet rain
Because he knows he’s lost before having the chance to fully gain

He smiles through his tears
He knows her happiness is near

His heart those tears smear

Her star finally appears

Her heart's content he hears

He always imagined the two of them intertwining hands
As they watched the night sky while on beached sands
And counted the stars as the time flew by on an hour hand
Gazing at each other’s eyes while summer rain hits land

But he’s realized the truth of a true lover’s way
It’s wanting her happiness with whoever may
Love her truthfully and cure her dismay
To see her through and make her own way
