Shielding The Truth

by Fighter (Ariane L.)   Jul 23, 2005

Thinned from starvation.
Weak from dehydration.
Thousands die each week
For lack of help.

We stand on the sidelines
Shielding our eyes from the truth.
Letting reality escape beneath us.
Pretending to be unaware.

We stand, surrounded by silence.
Incapable of speaking
For those who can't do so.
For those in need.

Weak from lack of water.
Thinned from starvation.
They can do nothing
But hope for help to come.

While we stand on the sidelines,
Shielding our eyes from the truth.
Incapable of lending a hand.
Letting reality escape beneath us.
