God?

by William Flores   Jul 25, 2005

Another dull and darkened night
My hands are folded in perfect unison
I kneel under the heavens and twilight
In search of answers to blurry confusion

Why do I go through this ritualistic task?
You know I’ve doubted you from the start
Frozen tears fall like crystal white snow
Into my pierced heart peer as I ask

God?
Are you there?
God?
Do you care?

God?
Feel my pain?
God?
Is it all in vain?

Remember the sweet little boy?
Of course, you saw him grow old
Remember his youthful joy?
Lost in the daggers of emotions untold

That boy has changed so much I’m told
Beyond recognition to all, even to you
Won’t have to wait for his story to unfold
For his shattered reflection is right in front of you

God?
Now do you see?
God?
I’m lost in a dry sea

God?
What do you say?
God?
To explain this pain

You’re the creator and beholder of life or so I’ve been told
But there’s a difference between being the creator and being the creation
For you know the beauties of life as we’re young and death as we’re old
Yet live not the poison and scars of a life lived in hellish damnation

God
Life is bitterly sweet yet sweetly bitter
Slowly but surely it fades away like glitter
Like a hammer it smashes and smashes
Turns dust to dust and ashes to ashes

Great poem is all i can say. You are a great writer. I think everyone wonders what it is that God thinks of them as he watches over them and I often times wonder if god has noticed the way i've changed from my childhood to now.
