Color Blind

by Raven Roth   Jul 26, 2005

I'm glad I have someone like you,
because you don't care about color.
You see what's on the inside,
that's why you chose me as your lover.

The world makes fun of us,
because we're not alike.
They don't know who we are,
yet they judge us by their sight.

I don't care if you're black,
you don't care if I'm white.
But I'll always be by your side,
because I know you have my back.

We're in for a long fight,
I hope that you're ready.
Because people hate the fact,
that you and I are going steady.

For years this love has been shunned,
but now it's time for a change.
No one can tell us who to love,
no one can tell us that it's strange.

I feel their eyes on us,
as they watch us hug and kiss.
But we don't care what they think,
it doesn't get any better than this.

The world doesn't realize,
but true love is hard to find.
I just wish there were more people like us,
more people who are color blind.

Again this poem really touched me. My ex boyfriend is from Nigeria he is an international student here at my school and I am a white country girl lol For over a year we went out and there wasnt one day where we didnt see people giving us dirty looks. This poem gives me hope that there are others out there like myself who are color blind. Great job
