Fool’s Paradise

by Kelsey   Jul 28, 2005

Everyday I contemplate
What it would take
To wake
From this fool’s paradise
A quixotic hullabaloo
Or a roué
With too much to say
A child prodigy
A monstrosity?
Or even an abomination?
Foreshadowing
Of a great adventure
A hero finds a cure
And as it reaches paramount
Our chivalrous knight
Out looking for a fight
Heads for definite peril
A superlative leader
On a grand tirade
“You should all be afraid”
Tries to take on the world
He will not stop till he has hold
His myrmidons
Just do as they are told
And think not for themselves
We question his sanity
When a man screams
Though his words are true
We turn a blind eye
And try
To put the blame on him
We watch the stars
Not in the sky
But on the silver screen
As the actors live out our dreams
Of love and passion
Mystery and greatness
We watch with fascination
And we smile
For awhile
Till the image starts to fade
Then our lives go back to normal
To the day-to-day routine
Thinking now and then
Of the wonder we have seen
We will watch the children grow
Wishing we were they
Having control
Over nothing but today
So we skip
To our next appointment
With an expression
That is mischievous
My god
Is a scapegrace
A troglodyte with no face
But my certainty
Is impregnable
That he is whom I trust
Till the Earth is all but dust
“Do you hear yourself?”
I ask
“Are you sure that is your path
Do you so fear His wrath?”
For you
Are not you
His thoughts are yours as well
Your freedom is in question
Pulling you toward Hell
The devil is surreptitious
He’ll do anything for your soul
He’ll give you love
He’ll give you power
Anything you crave
But if you accept
Your soul we cannot save
Now I ask
That you stand up
For the one that is important
For yourself
And your opinions
And the world that is your home
I know it is all chaos
Just like the words upon this page
But today the ground I walk on
Is my centre stage
So I’ll smile
Not just for a while
But for every single day
In my home
My fool’s paradise

wow, I love the wording, the emotion, the thought that you put into this poem.. It's so different and yet so wonderful, I read it twice, and each time I enjoyed it more.. good job.

I think it was a little long and i suggest to make it cleaner that you spearate your stanzas instead of having a big clump but besides that nice job..i had trouble following but overall nice work...:) luv yas mwah
