This Goodbye Is for Good

I couldn't believe this happened
I always thought it would last.
Everything will be okay now,
as I'm putting you in the past.

Although I'll never forget you.
you will always be on my mind.
I'm sorry I have to let you go now,
this is my last goodbye.

I was always there when you cried
to help wipe away your tears.
I was always with you,
helping to get rid of your fears.

I have to say goodbye for now,
as I cannot take anymore.
All the pain inside of me,
is making me feel great remorse.

I have to put the past behind
can't sit back and wait for you,
It would only be a waste of time
if you're wondering, wonder no more
This is my last goodbye.

    Great poem! I really liked it. Although the last line fits...i thought that maybe instead of saying this goodbye is for good, you could say this is the last goodbye??? To me it would fit a little better. And thank you for your comment.
