Burning

by my_little_secret   Aug 10, 2005

Try and touch me,
Break me down,
To start again so fresh and soft,
But there's no way out, no saving grace,
I've lost my name but kept my face.

Your words so kind mean nothing now,
The cause so bleak and full of heat,
Stay away or be rendered cold,
Be my lifeless hand to hold.

I liked the way I felt sometimes,
Primeval lust filled fire,
I soared and burned and revelled in,
My power trip on wings of sin

But now my wings beat air with hate,
And disbelief reigns true.
I want to lose my gift of flight,
And wend my way towards the light.
