Gray Tears

by Liz   Aug 17, 2005

She covers up her tears
With fake smiles and glazed eyes
Her family never knowing of her awful crys
She runs to her room for comfort
Hugging her knees tight
As she sits in bed mumbling "I'm alright" "I'm alright"
She thinks of the past year
And trys to forget about it and not to fear
Her memories are filled with unbearable pain
She can't stand it much longer
But she tells herself to be stronger
She closes her watery eyelids
And escapes from her life into sleep..
Her dreams become nightmares
She awakes and starts to weep
Her family always unknowing
Thinking shes alright
She smiles sweetly as they look
Never noticing her eyes filled with fright

Wow... 5/5, I disagree with purple fears very much so,I thought this poem flowed amazingly and was very sad but had very good description and I could imagine it all in my head, I can sort of relate to this poem so if thats how you feel I understand what your going through, but I think you are an amazing poet, and you did an excellent job on this one and i'm sure the rest, great job and keep up the fantastic work, your poem caught my interest very much so and kept it instead of losing me in the middle like most poems, again great job and i'm expecting to read more excellent poems of yours,

This is good, but I think it could do with some work. It doesn't flow amazingly well. The line 'As she sits in bed mumbling "I'm alright" "I'm alright"' is really powerful so maybe you could repeat it somewhere else? Maybe at the end. Just a suggestion. Still worth the read though. x
