Pain for Myself

by Eric McGlaughlin   Aug 22, 2005

I tell myself it’s worth it…
That it’ll all just be all right.
I try to stop the pain of others,
I guess I never saw the sight.
I take all the pain for myself,
I hold it all inside.
Another weight added to the shelf,
Of everything to hide.
I try to make everyone happy,
No matter the cost or price.
Sadness and anger follow me anyway,
Paying the price twice.
Death is coming for me now,
But I do not fear.
For I’ve walked alone in the shadows of hell,
Never shedding a single tear.
