A Modern Misconception

by Daphne Darling   Aug 24, 2005

What can I say, with a smile on my lips?
I'm not really coherent even to myself,
Everything is changing and it’s like a blink,
Before I even open my eyes it's all gone.

Drifting along on a sightless journey,
The flash of a siren showing nil,
Void of destiny or directions,
It’s all faded into the past now.

A modern misconception for us all,
A dilemma in the guise of a solution,
Feasting on a million lies anew,
One can't think to be right on the point.

Glad to know it can all be explained away,
But do we all lead to a meaningless end?
Something greater than we can fathom?
Or just a wistful dream unfulfilled?

Pathways cross and flights descend,
Never ending meetings and partings,
An illusion of this perfectional society,
Masters of our own realities and such.

Does it need to be a secret forgiveness?
Feeling nothing of the ultimate bliss,
Trapped within a set of lines ever the same,
Distant from the truth of all the lies.

Does it make sense for the rest?
Does it ever change what is happening?
Is a difference ever really made within?
Or does it just repeat relentlessly?
