National Anthem Singer

by David Paul   Aug 31, 2005

Breathe in for luck,
Cause I'm gonna need it,
I've never sung before this many people,
I think I should sit,
No I must stand,
and over come my stage fright,
After all this is what I practiced for,
What kept me up all night

He just said my name,
and now I hear the drum role,
Oh god I'm nervous,
These tremors shake my soul,
Here's the down beat,
Now for the real fight,
"Oh say can you see,
By the dawns early light.

I'm finally through,
The announcer just said "good job,"
I now have to walk off,
As every on in the crowd gives me a nod,
Did they really like it,
Will they let me do it again,
I think I'm over my fear,
Of singing the National Anthem.
