Afraid

When I first saw you i was afraid to talk to you,
Talking to you means that i would exist.
Existing would mean that i was human,
Being human would mean i had feelings,
And Feelings get hurt.

When i first talked to you I was afraid to like you,
Liking you means that i must care.
Caring would mean that i got involved.
Being involved would mean no turning back.
And no turning back scared me.

When I first liked you i was afraid to love you.
Loving you meant opening my heart to you,
Opening my heart would mean leaving it naked, fully exposed.
Having my heart naked and fully exposed means no protection.
And without protection, my heart would no longer be safe.

Now that I love you I'm Afraid to lose you,
losing you would mean my heart got broken,
having my heart broken would mean pain and emptiness
Being in pain and feeling empty can take a life time to heal.
And a life could be snatched away in a second.
