Echoes of a Summer

by AGirlWorthFightingFor   Sep 2, 2005

The laughter of a demon
And the cackle of a Snake
The poets have been dreamin'
A girl wishes they would wake

Locked up by their keeper
Shut in by the rain
Mind probe reaching deeper
As they pass (piss) the time away

One summer's evening
The demon demonstrated
The quintessential question
And a monster was created

The laughter of my demon
And the cackle of His Snake
Up all night and schemin'
For a plot they can make

But none could know 'til morning
What thoughts the girl devised
She twisted their ghost story
Into a new genre defined

Autumn clouds thundered upon us
Marking summer's ending
Harsh warning of the tempest
But the poets kept pretending

The laughter of the demon
And the cackle of the Snake
Soon turned but to screamin'
From far out upon the lake

The sorrow of the demon
For the drowning of the Snake
What it lacked in outward feelin'
Spilled out upon the page

The laughter of a demon
And the cackle of a snake
Echoes of a season
When dreamers did awake
