The Girl I Pretend To Be

Today will be a great day
Nothing can go wrong
I'll patiently sit through school
And act like I'm following along

I'll watch my friend steal all my ideas
But I'll be careful not to mention
I hate how she passes them off has her own
Just to get attention

When my parents decide to yell
I will simply nod and agree
For I always have done something wrong
And the blame always falls on me

Then I'll remember my homework
The math; I haven't even begun it
I'll just quickly scribble some numbers
So the teacher thinks I have done it

My problems are not important
I have no worries or cares
But my friends, they just have it so rough
So I'll stay up late to help them with theirs

If I get all this accomplished
And to my schedule I keep
Maybe, just maybe, I'll have a few hours
Of uninterrupted sleep

Yes, today I will have a great day
As far as the world can see
I will be happy and so will everyone else
As long as I'm the girl I pretend to be

    Wow.. Umm first off, that was very well written, second, yes my mom did send this to me, It was really sad, and I understand it completely, its really hard sometimes, and the only way to seem happy is by pretending to be, and everything that happens around the house, all the screaming and yelling, doesn't help any, but we just have to hang in there, things will someday get better and I guess we just need to look forward to the future, to the successful things in life that we will get the oppurtunity(sp?) to do, but again, great poem, I can relate to it and I liked the words you used, and the flow was very good, 5/5

    This is justin's mom, that poem really touched me, i sent it to my 13 daughter who is having some problem's to let her know i understand that it isn't easy being her....Thankyou so much
