Cannot Colour What Is Grey

by Rusted x Heart   Sep 22, 2005

Unfurling the arms of acceptance,
At peace in its warm embrace.
Slicing all prior images,
Adopting a brand new face.
Peeling off this skin,
Flaunting what is not,
Burning away all footsteps,
Forgetting what was taught.

Drowning in a pool of deceipt,
Washing away the past.
Sailing on a one-way ship,
Full speed, and at full mast.
My head held high above the rest,
But yet a heart down low.
So many places welcomed in,
But yet no home to go.

Dripping with false spotlight,
A silhouette they see.
Embodied by a person,
Who is all but reality.
A face glazed with a mask,
Painting on a smile,
Making seem beautiful,
What underneath is vile.

But once the portrait shatters.
The perfection comes undone,
The past is but a tail,
That cannot be outrun.
One's past can't be denied,
Live now and for today,
Regret not what has happened,
For you cannot color what is grey.

Written 14/08/04 about being happy with who you are, and leaving the past where it belongs- behind.

Great poem. Quite magnificent. You've put some very vivid images of being happy and leaving what doesn't matter behind you. Quite fond of this piece. With such an easy flow I felt quite compelled to read on! Great stuff
