Devils Delight

by HJ   Sep 23, 2005

Under a star studded dark blue sky
past regrets, past reasoning.
Flashes of violence in my minds eye.

Trapped in a world of lies.
Locked within my dreams.
My fading pulse silence my cries.

There was a freedom in your arms.
Love for the last time.
You would protect me from all harm.

In the shadows that steal the light.
I became too reckless.
Nothing to lose, nothing left to fight.

My red mournful lips speak, I quiver inside.
Leafs circle uselessly above.
I'm a moth to a light, hypnotized.

Releasing years of silence and pain.
A single tear falls.
The curtains of my eyes close once again.

I touched the traces of your steps one night.
With the full moon.
I fell with the push from a devils delight.

This reflection has burnt my soul forever.
You were my only truth.
Deep secrets will keep us together.

Agony and fear will remain within.
To be free of the past.
God, forgive me for I have sinned.
