Blindly place this

by Gary Jurechka   Sep 26, 2005

But tell me

that there are no more wars here
that there are no more dead or missing children
that there are no quiet revolutions

tell me
that there are no beginnings
that there are no endings
that there are no more
tainted gods

and tell me how
i've come to be wearing
this domestic shroud
for i don't know anymore
and the walls
are the only thing not crumbling-
they have been reinforced

i call your name
from the other room
you pause

and
blindly place this
silence in the space
between us

sometimes i forget
the meaning of the word
home
