FADING AWAY

by Gary Jurechka   Sep 29, 2005

Wax and incense waft on window breeze
candle flame flickers shadows
deep, deep in the night, on the nod,
dark silence pours over and caresses burning flesh,
eyelids leaden flutter, broken body weariness,
not enough sustenance and fresh air,
lost in the numb haze of
too much sleep deprivation and too many drugs,
thick, heavy mind shifts through shafts of dull colour,
mad poet weaves shaman's dance sensory detachment,
self destruction is beautiful in slow motion,
the heart beats dark between long pauses
before consciousness drifts off
into pure raw black oblivion,
burn out not fade away
burn out not fade away
burn out...
not...
fade.....................
