LIES TOLD TWICE (written with John Sweet)

by Gary Jurechka   Oct 3, 2005

What you\'re afraid of
is this

that god & souls are only
a concept to console the living

that lost dreams
taste bittersweet when devoured
& never digest well

that humanity is
a forlorn hope

& if you\'re right
what then?

will this
city of dying shadows become
the wasteland you
call home?

will it be
a better hiding place than
the cave
you live in now?

is sanctuary but a warm mist that
dissapates when you reach it?

what we seek
is this

someone in a place where
fears are cast off like clothing,
most of all, the fear of
a lover who\'s eyes are
lies told twice

& suddenly
you find yourself
naked
&
alone
