Family Portrait

by LadyPearl   Oct 14, 2005

Tears stream down my face
my past has been displaced
when you left you tore
The heart of our live's core

Only a girl of eight
Shadows took my fate
The day you left me there
Leaving without a care

My words flowed pass your ears
Every night the dark was near
Sounds of shattering cries
Shouts and swollen eyes

Please stop all the screaming
Tell me you're not leaving
This family is breaking apart
With every violent thought

I watch from solemn eyes
As our glowing fire dies
You have left and set me free
Given me a new beginning

Because of you I've changed my ways
Because of you, I'm here to stay
Changing wrongs to the rights
a beacon filled with lumious light

Father, when you didn't love me
Mother, I, a shadow you couldn't see
My stone heart turned ever so cold
There was nothing left for me to hold

Now as my family proceeds
Tending to every want and needs
The same sins arrive upon me
Tears cover all of love's beauty

Flashing back, I see my reflection
A heart split to many sections
Face streaked from what was laid
A costly knowledge has been made

Hugging together a broken family
Bringing back love's majesty
Determined to keep the past away
For my family to live and stay
