I REMEMBER WHEN

by Gary Jurechka   Oct 23, 2005

I remember when
we stood in laughing summer meadows
as the world stood still
and time stopped

free to run under star filled heavens
nights were magic, the days glistened
set afire with youth's burning passion
so alive as we talked and loved and listened

we smoked cigarettes
and planned our future dreams
heart in heart, hand in hand
we shuffled through autumn leaves

bonded and clinging together
until we finally grew up and drifted apart
as the world turned
and time passed
