My Dearest Brother

by Samantha   Nov 28, 2005

My Dearest Brother
Can neither walk nor run,
He sits in the house all day
While everyone else has fun.
To the world he is different
Yet to us he is just the same;
The only thing he usually does
Is sit inside and play video games.
He has changed our lives
But thats okay,
He influences everyone
In a very positive way.
He does not realize
That soon he will die,
And to this world
He must say goodbye.
Of his fate
He does not know,
In his mind
He has time to grow.
He cries sometimes
Because he does not understand,
Why he cant even
Move his hands.
My Dearest Brother
Will never see,
The difference
He has made in me...

My younger brother Micheal passed away September 19th 2009 from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy . He was 16 years old and will be forever missed.

I've been reading a few of your poems tonight and this one along with A Dying Child really has me choked up. My heart goes out to you and your family. Take each day one at a time and enjoy the time you have. I'll be saying a prayer tonight. xox

This is a beautiful poem. You can see the pain and sorrow in it, and can feel it evoke a similar feeling in the reader. It is well written with a nice structure, and a nice flow. My heart goes out to you.

    Yours Sincerely
