Guidelines on my wrists

by Strange Angel   Dec 8, 2005

Have you ever noticed,
How there are lines,
Wrinkles, creases in your wrists?
Or am I the only one
Who has guidelines above my veins?
It's as if from the day I was born,
I lived to die.
It's there, sketched out for me perfectly
Shall I follow it?
Shall I fulfil my destiny?
I hold the shimmering blade
So close to the pounding rivers.
It would be so easy to follow that map,
And draw the blade across,
Slowly, slowly.
Draw into my skin,
Sketch my life upon my forearm.
To bring ones existence to such a swift end
With one swipe of that fatal dagger.
I feel it watching me,
Waiting...

Am I the only one,
Who has guidelines on her wrists?

I really liked your poem. I know have guidelines on my wrist too. Ones that will never go away and I can't erase. Remmeber that. Scars don't always fade. I guess now they are apart of me and my testimony.
