Wave upon Wave

by Bill Turner   Dec 17, 2005

Wave after wave crashes upon my shore
Pain washing over my empty, haunted soul
Things I am feeling chill me to the bone
Grabbing me, an icy claw ripping at my heart
Exposing my deepest emotions tearing me apart

I am awash on the sea of life rudderless and alone
Rising and falling with the swells of my life
Exposed to the elements drowning in pain
There is supposed to be so much more to this life
Somehow it has turned to heartache and strife

As this storm swirls about me tossing me asunder
I know that it will someday have to end
In each direction I see swells and black storm clouds
The mast of my heart lay on the deck shattered and torn
The keel and hull of my life becoming badly worn

I am looking for a ray of sun to enter my life
A passing vessel to throw me a line and give me a tow
Once I find port I know I can repair my life's ship
Until that time I will drift about on the raging sea
Watching and waiting as these changes wash over me
