APPARITIONS IN THE AIR

by Gary Jurechka   Dec 19, 2005

Yesterday is gone and so is she,
leaving apparitions in the air,
only photographs and memories
that she'd ever been there.

No return except to haunt me,
sad spectre of nostalgic sight,
overwhelming emotions and intangible images,
tears that burn my eyes at night.

Where is the light side of the dark,
shadow of love, locked within, locked without,
lonely freedom a contradictory compromise,
a heart that don't understand, ridddled with doubt.

And in the silence of absence,
I can only sit and stare,
tracing the ghosts of love and human collision,
leaving apparitions in the air.
