A divided Society

by Russell   Dec 28, 2005

Wake up from this fake sleep
and break free from this mold
Their influence runs so deep
but they're all stuck in the days of old

Last time I checked it was new age
People are beginning to open their mind
Like 20 years ago two people of the same sex couldn't be engaged
But some people are still blind

Quit trying to change people till they're the same
Let them be what they want
Just because people do what they want, shouldn't bring you shame
Just because your kids are different, it shouldn't be a taunt

People and times change
and we try to reach out to you
Why do you look at me like I am strange?
Why are you trying to crush the dreams I pursue

I'm not going to trace your path
I'll make my own road
I'll deal with whoever's wrath
just to see my respect bestowed

Society still screws up their kids
and feels their heads with lies
but we venture into to things you forbid
and new problems for you arise

I like the poem I agree we should respect individuality as long as it does not interfefer with our own freedom. Decency is sometimes in the in the eye of the beholder the poem also had a decent flow

Amazing job. i'm speachless but i do love the message and i do love how you want to take your own road, your own path. i think everyone would want or does that in life. keep it up. keep on writing. love always and forever.
