Darkness on the Edge of my Soul

by Bill Turner   Dec 29, 2005

There is a darkness on the edge of my soul
From being burnt one too many times
The edges have become frayed over the years
Scorched and tattered my soul is intact
I will never compromise it that is a fact

That darkness seeks to envelope me
Creeping crawling wrapping itself around my heart
Looking for a way in, a crack in the wall
As long as I remain pure of heart
This darkness will not get a start

Doing the right thing because it is right to do
Will keep the darkness on the edge of my soul
Standing for all that I believe never giving an inch
Living, loving and laughing each day a new start
Life is so simple if we all do our part

A good poem that says so much about the writer. Doing the right thing is not always easy but it will always defeat darkness in the end.
