Patient is Hell

They walk past your bedroom
In deep silhouette
Now you’ve lost him
And he’s lost his bet
But your tears make them stop
As you call out his name
The angels turn in sorrow
And you do the same
The world turns on each other
Refusing to find another way
And just as your about to jump
You hear a voice say:

And he tells you don’t forget him
But he wants you to live

And you collapse back in tears
As your friend quickly stops the car
“What the hell were you going to do”
“I wasn’t going very far.”
She looks at you and you look at her
Realizing the reality of what almost occurred
Her tears bring forth your arms in a hug
And you both understand without a word
You look up at the sky
And he whispers “I love you,
I’ll wait here forever.”
“I’ll wait for you, too.”

20 years since that day
She sits with her son
Upon a deathbed, she says

She said barley loud
