A Picture

by Katlynn   Jan 3, 2006

Snap, snap, snap.
a picture image is forever wasted.
a black and white photo hangs.
but no one is smiling.
everyone's face is frowning.
the thoughts run down to me.

the picture frame gets broken.
the tears inside his eyes.
him rolling around on the floor.
coming to open the right door.
but he never does.
his heart is broken from the glass.

the picture still is faded on the floor.
go to it today you'll see it.
no one's face is the same.
they know what he did.
they know how the picture would be.
he would be sad.
once the frame was gone.

a picture says a thousand words.
but i don't believe that.
a picture frame has a thousand picture to hold a thousand words.
but what if he wasn't there??
would they smile??

would they actually know he was gay.
his own family calls him a fag.
one thing he wanted was a happy family.
but drives him insane.
he's gay so what.
let it be.
except him for him no one else.
but they never listen.

snap, snap, snap.
the picture is ripped finally.
on the floor.
faded away along with his blood.

Your poem touched my heart! A family is one of the things that you’re supposed to be able to turn to. It's horrible how cruel it can all be! Very nicely written... Maybe it will open a few people’s eyes to realize we're all the same in the end.
