Broken Family

by Emma   Jan 3, 2006

I mis those family-fun-days,
Sitting in the grass beneath blazing sun rays,
The days where we don't have to fight,
The days we can have a family movie night.

Those days when we all sit around the fire,
Spilling our hearts deepest desire,
The family trips we used to take,
Niagra Falls, or to the lake.

What I don't miss is the wretched screaming,
The fights that haunt me while I'm dreaming,
The sound of shattering glass,
Waiting for this crazy storm to pass.

No one would think this family is broken,
But no one has heard the harsh words that were spoken.
No one has seen the scars and bruises,
The ones we cover with lame excuses...
