Unrequited

by AGirlWorthFightingFor   Jan 5, 2006

When it comes down to the last
hours of idleness between you & I
There is no perfect day for me.
Life is just a dream
on the way to the undertaker's address.
Throw a rose upon your coffin.
I kept every laugh cried on your photograph.
With every letter that I kept of yours,
you burned the ones I sent.
Please, remind me to not ever act this way again.

Back when we were more than friends
& love was something so unreachable
Every frame is dedicated to you
& the memories we shared.
They cannot be recovered, but
our past lives will be eclipsed by who you & I became.

My lethal ignorance
on our last timeless dance.
The end of us is all we wanted to prevent.
Close my fist on this romantic tragedy.
I'd die trying to choke on our meaning.
It meant nothing to you.
This grave misunderstanding.

"For every taken life,
is another angel watching over us."

Death anxiety, talking to the ghost of you.
Memories stored in my head
Distorted & replayed,
Like somehow we were really friends.

The last hours of our lives
are being wasted on ever-afters & goodbyes.
There are too many unrequited princesses to save.
This life is not a fairytale.

Remember what the raven said:
"Quote me, stupid."
To the end.
& this forever just got a hell of a lot shorter.
In your honor I will live just like you.
I hope I make you proud.
