Italia

by StormShadow   Jan 13, 2006

Beneath clear blue skies
Majestic snow tipped mountains
greeted our eyes
In this opening view of Italia

We spent our days exploring
The Vias and Piazzas of Milan
On foot, trams and electrical buses
In this Italian city life appeared calm

In the countryside
Warm Mediterranean houses
Sprinkled among the hilltops
Gave the touch of a canvas in blossom

We took the train to Como,
With its lakes and views
Brick paved clean narrow streets
a picturesque town deep with character

That evening it was a game in the San Siro
When Inter scored their second
The chants filled the night air
Julio! Ricardo! Croooooz!

For every meal we went to a different place
Restaurants and cafes, serving
Pizzas and pasta
With an authentic taste

On our last day we explored
A magnificent castle with a waterfall entrance
and admired the breathtaking beauty
Of the Duomo Cathedral

It was time to go back home
With a heavy heart I looked out
At the passing lights of Milan
Hoping to return one day, but for now
Arriverderci Italia
