In Death As In Life

by Ixora   Jan 17, 2006

A poet drowned in words with which the soul will cry
Will make him once again sing another miswritten lullaby
A mother upon birth with child has now dried the tears she’s cried
As she sank into an abyss of heaven with which the world has lied
A monsoon has destroyed another hard working farmer’s crop
The blame is put upon his shoulders as he's fallen from the top
No one can stop the world from spinning, why bother to even try
To waste a breath into the world of which we are to die
To wander into danger and save the dying, in hopes of becoming known
Only to turn around into deaths arms and that horrid blackened tone
No one will remember you, no one will even care
A voice that is a contradiction, might as well have never been there
Society is the pragmatist in which we all must live
In hopes of one day gaining back all we’ve had to give
A mockery of life we are, humanity’s sweet sin
Always smiling if we can, holding what we can within
Always afraid, we live in constant fear
Wanting what we push away, pushing it closer near
It’s a domestic cycle we live in, death and life renowned
Were hatred, sadness, misunderstanding’s priority and love is always postponed
No wonder we indulge in suicide, why live without any truth
In a life where children abuse their parents, and parents abuse their youth
No wonder we judge each other, for to judge ourselves would bring us shame
To realize that we’re below the animals and we’re the only ones to blame
To recognize the opportunity you gave up, when you pushed him so far away
For him to realize too late that it was out of fear not hate that she refused to stay
Such horrid plans we must give to god, humanities free will is such a waste
Always drinking, eating, dying in routine, so easily each one of us is replaced
We bleed red blood and speak in tongues yet mute and dry are we
We all have eyes with which we look, but never really see
Its in sadness we gather here, to give each other pity for our strife
And in the end we help naught, for were meant to be alone in death as we are in life

....just a deep one i guess....

I don't have any words to describe this. I guess it's because I know that whatever I say will seem so trivial next to this poem! You're so right...very deep. Most of the poems on this site speak of situations closest to the author...a lot of your poems don't do that. I think it takes a real writer to be able to write in someone else perspective or even put themselves in someone else's shoes. Undescribable talent!
