Justice

by my_little_secret   Jan 26, 2006

Stolen away, so cruel and so fast,
The man responsible, brought to justice, at last!
But no, through the law, to interrupt our elation,
All the family get is compensation.

He ran you down and left you for dead,
Left you alone, no other thought in his head
But to flee the scene and escape from the guilt,
Who cares what internal prison he's built? ?

So, he wasn't speeding?! He left her there to die
Her bones smashed to pieces, no life left in her eye.
He ran away, he ran away, while her spirit slipped away.

Her best friend was with her too,
He knocked her down as well,
I hope and pray with all my heart,
Her lives the rest of his days in Hell.

Every bone in her body; broken
Words of goodbye remain unspoken
A wreath of flowers from her brothers; a token
Of the love that they had for their big sister.

Overwhelming grief at the time of her death,
A hungry, clutching pain,
A desperate need to talk to her,
Just to see her once, just once again.

But she's gone, gone forever,
And no matter how many times we shout her name,
She's never coming back.
Yet the man in the frame for killing Natalie,
Is negotiating with his insurance company
How much to give her parents.

Where is the justice?
How is that sane?
How can money ease their pain?
I want him locked up;
He killed my friend.

But justice is nothing.

He, at 28, is in his prime,
But her life, at 17, is at an end.

It was such a terrible accident, and the poem expresses this so well. nothing will be able to ease away the grief from the family, and certainly not money. i suppose the man has the biggest punishment of having to live with such huge guilt of what happened. but i'll stop rambling now... brilliant poem though, u fitted in all of the emotions really well.
    love u lots xxxxxxx
