Screaming Inside

Why is it that inside, I'm screaming,
Yet you don't seem to hear anything?
When you do so much as whisper,
I catch every word you speak.

Why is it that my voice has been silenced?
What gives you the right
To simply turn your back to me,
While I'm always here for you?

Inside, my voice speaks its words.
It screams its angst,
Yet it all seems lost to your ears.

What gives you the right
To simply turn your back,
When I need you so much?
What gives you the right
To pretend all is fine?

What gives you the right
To ignore the one that's always there?
What gives you the right
To silence me,
While I'm screaming inside?

*sucks, i know. i just had to let it out. my closest friend doesn't listen anymore. all she does is talk about her own life and her own stuff. she never stops talking long enough to ask me how I'm doing. and on the rare occasions when she does, as I start to tell her, she interrupts to tell me something "so important". is it that wrong to simply want to talk to someone?!?

    Thanks hun. i know that, but it's just hard some days. there's no one else i can talk to about this, because none of my other friends know anything about my past and what i've been through. they just wouldn't understand.

    Sorry to hear that you have a friend who is not there for you. It is so important in relationships for it to go both ways. I don't want to compare myself to your pain, but I just had a friend tell me to give her a call when I am out of this depression. She can't take it, and it is bring her down. I never asked her for anything, just a listening ear once in a while. But you know how that feels. You just want to be heard and not always having to be the strong one because you can't express yourself around someone you call your friend.
    Hang in there. There are people out there that will be there for you and listen to what you have to say.
