Holy War

by Bill Turner   Jan 29, 2006

People passing by all day
Walking down the street
Children on the sidewalk play
Friends and lovers meet

A single eye staring down
Searching all their faces
Brow scrunched into a frown
Searching the windows and places

Black Benz coming down the block
Windows sporting a deep tint
Their world I am about to rock
Sun reflecting off my lens, a glint

I still remain unseen atop the roof
Door opens and he steps out
Defiant, arrogant and aloof
I want to yell and shout

My eye finds his heart
Cross hair upon his chest
Time for my war to start
Death at my behest

Judge and jury let him go
After what he did
This much I know
He should have hid

A silent whisper leaves the barrel
An explosion of blood and flesh
Down goes the defense attorney life feral
Shock and bewilderment begin to mesh

Another shot rings out
Acquitted feeling pain
Bishop begins to shout
Next shot hits him like a train

Watching from his back
Realization sets in
Punishment for his attack
Final shot, the priest will never sin
Again
