That Day

The day that it happened
Was a day I'll never forget
It runs through my mind
and it never quits

I was asleep on the couch
Right next to the bed
When I felt a nudge
On top of my head

A nurse took hold of me
And said with a tear
Your mom went to heaven
last night my dear.

At that second
My life had changed
I didn't realize it then
That I would never be the same.
