Must Now Admire From Afar

by Laura   Feb 10, 2006

Standing at your front door for what could be the very last time
I take my final glance around while a chill runs down my spine
It is painful every time we must say goodbye
I can only be strong if you leave me with an explanation why

Over come with sadness but I refuse to let it show
For my only weakness is that I do not want you to know
Too late by the time you realized the opportunity that you had for so long right in front of you
Even though the passion shared together had always felt so true

I am already driving down the highway
Before I realize I am headed your way
But why does it not feel wrong?
For we had already said so long

Always thinking of you no matter where you are
And when you are around I still admire you from afar
Tested by a mysterious twist of fate
Why in life did this opportunity come so late?

Some lines have too many syllables (I can tell because I do it too) but other than that I love it. I think a lot of people have traveled this road. Excellent write!
