Last Minute Words

by EmptyEyes   Feb 14, 2006

Valentines day and I have my rose.
Chocolate in my hand and the flower in the other.
A letter tucked in, sprayed with a scent to tickle the nose.
My sweat drips down as I walk closer.

Late at night.
Sorry I couldn't come earlier.
I didn't have a ride,
and the chocolate got a little softer.

Is it too late?
I still have a proposal to make.
Today is valentines day,
Would you be mine? or are these gifts going to waste?

Half past eleven,
and I still can't see you.
Your lights are the only one out in the neighborhood.

The sweets melt and crawl down my hand.
The flower dies and bends over.
My heart feels no better,
And as trashy as a crushed up can.

I walk back home,
with my chin on my chest.
The wind carries an angels scent.
It reaches my soul and I break into tears.
You were waiting outside my door.
One minute left, its not to late.
Be my valentines today.

Thank you so much for your comments on my poems. True friendship is truely a blessing. Not many have it, I'm lucky on this one that for once I actually have this blessing. You are right, it can not be a one way street. Every relationship needs hard work from both sides. If you ever need a friend to open up to... I'm here.
