Monopoly

by my_little_secret   Feb 15, 2006

Here is my confession.

I cry. Did you know that?
I guess not.
Because every time I felt my heart break,
My lungs give way,
I couldn't find the strength to say
"Hey. I need your help"
I've seen people try it,
And all you've done is cry and make it all about you.

That is not what friendship is.

Here is my epic.

Everyone's life is hard.
Everyone's.
Why have you the monopoly on pain?
What gives you the right, again and again
To emotionally blackmail and use people's hearts?
Lives aren't a game; you don't play with a friend,
You can't click your fingers and expect me to bend,
Where are your morals, huh, little girl?
I'm not here to justify your existence.

So listen.

If you depend upon me to make you feel good,
Stop treating me badly and act like you should.
I'm not here to catch every word that you utter,
I'm not here to be left staring up from the gutter.
You're no better than me; you're no angel of grace,
You're stuck in this world, so deal with the place
