Pieces of the night

by Gary Jurechka   Feb 27, 2006

Empty glasses and
blank tv screen
dark moon windows
overflowing ashtray of
cigarette butts and joint ends
empty Pepsi bottles and sleeping pills
on the coffee table
cluttered with papers and lost dreams
angst and desperation
hang heavy in stagnant air
a soul scattered over
crumpled up balls of paper
failed attempts of
a lost shadow
trying to capsulize a feeling
and a moment
trying to numb and deaden
these emotions
tired of thinking
tired of feeling
a downward spiral
into self destruction
fading a little more
each empty night
wasting away in
patches of blackness

without you

Gary, this is one of the most honest and heartfelt poems I have ever read. It had to be so hard writing this down on paper. You conveyed this sadness so perfectly. I can completely relate to every word... Amazing write!
