Foundation for the Future

by butterfly ♥ kisses   Mar 4, 2006

The rain has stopped.
The sidewalk has ended.
The foggy line I've attempted to follow
Has now cleared.
The bitterness of the wind has faded
And taken with it the ice of the streets.
I'm ready to
Set
Down
My
Sword.
My enemies have retreated.
Lightning no longer engulfs the sky.
Instead, it is filled with stars
Set in the deepest blue.
Deeper than the ink which translates my thoughts
And the eyes of the one I've fought for.
My heart no longer racing,
I attempt to breathe.
The air is foreign
And shocks my lungs at its arrival.
Better late than never.
Time has stopped and
I revel in this quiet moment.
My hands no longer shaking,
I
Set
Down
My
Shield.
I feel exposed and uncertain. . .
But safe.
My legs no longer moving,
I stand on solid ground.
More solid than that which I built
All my tomorrows on.
For the first time, I feel nothing.
I don't move for fear of losing
This sweet salvation.
I've waited so long to feel nothing.
Now I'm ready to feel everything.
I'm ready to feel everything with you.
