Aftershock

by Captain Lonesome   Mar 8, 2006

In my lifetime the amount of blood that I've bled,
Couldn't compare to the amount of tears you've made me shed.
Now that I've seen my entire world shatter,
The days and the time don't really matter.
Where I am or where I'm going,
Isn't something I care about knowing.
I spend every night alone in my room crying,
With pain inside like this I'd swear I was dying.
I'll do and buy you anything no matter the cost,
Because I just can't move on knowing what I've lost.
The color of my heart is now pitch black,
Due to your warmth and love it now lacks.
So what if I'm twenty-one and your seventeen,
The difference in age doesn't mean a thing.
Let me know what I can do to change your mind,
So you won't leave our love behind.
All of my inspiration, motivation, and interest are gone,
My life now is compared to the saddest of songs.
When we were together I felt so alive,
Without you my heart can't possibly survive.
My life will never end at my own hands,
But I hope that you understand,
Where I am even rock bottom is above.
I won't give up on life but I'm givin' up on love.
Every time I try to stand, I just topple,
Love for me, without you, is impossible.
You said you'd give me a chance to explain,
But instead you just walked out, leaving me in pain.
My dreams came true, in to my life you came,
Then you left, now I'll never be the same.
People say I now look empty,
Yes, that is because you left me.
I've tried so hard but have only this,
I've got nothing but despair and loneliness.
I'd never believe I could hurt this much,
Missing with all of my heart your loving touch.
You're the only one I've ever had feelings like this for,
And you're the only one I ever will forever more.

What makes your writing so powerful is not just skills but great genuiness and strong emotional impact with which you express yourself. I'm sure the girl would come back quickly having read this!
