First Love

by Helen   Mar 11, 2006

I remember the first time I met him
I met my first and true flame
He was charming and rebellious
And he was mine to tame

He was street-wise and witty
He conquered me eventually
Now my golden locks have turned silver
And my shining eyes turned bleak

From the very first time I saw him
Glanced his very way
Into those crystal clear pools of blue
I knew I was falling in love each and every day

He took me for walks in the park
Festivals, movies, dinners galore
He'd tell me one day he loved me
And the next he'd say he loved me even more

I wanted to be with him
I wanted for us to age together
Have children together
Live together forever

But this man who sleeps beside me
Will never understand
That love is not based upon
The things that I demand

Sometimes I'd lay awake at night
And think about that guy
Sometimes I'd even dream of him
And sometimes even cry

He was the one who I loved
And silenced my cries
You may fall in love more than once
But just remember, your first love never dies
