I cannot rearrange the stars
Or frost the eaves in May.
I cannot create a giving heart
Or resurrect yesterday.
I cannot decide what tomorrow will bring
Or predict what my future holds.
I cannot make a child dream
Or heal a weary soul.

I cannot rescue innocence
Or set the world at ease.
I cannot promise you
That someday we'll find peace.
I cannot feed the hungry
Or bring our soldiers home.
I cannot cease to be
And explain what I don't know.

I cannot put into words
How you've changed my life.
But, for what it's worth,
