A Broken Voice

by S R P   Mar 26, 2006

He sits in his bedroom
rocking himself to sleep
an impending doom surrounds him
and slowly he begins to weep..

Everyone tells him he must be strong
a boy can not break
it's just wrong.

Deep inside he wants to die,
He refuses to let them see him cry
Everyday a new pain breaks
they find more pills for him to take..

Slowly he begins to drift away
his voice isn't as loud as before
he's waiting for a better day
but he doesn't want to try anymore..

She sits in her bedroom
staring at the wall
it feels like a prison
and no one can break her fall.

She's looking for something
to call her own
shes looking for someone
so she doesn't have to feel alone..

She's been searching her whole life
but she just can't look anymore
things just changed too much
nothing is the same as before..

She looks out the window
as the rain starts to fall
the tears of her broken life
No one can hear her call..

Miles away they share the pain
the pain of a tormented life
unable to bear the disdain
keeping their anguish deep inside
their battered souls they continue to hide..

Not knowing when to raise their voices,
not knowing that they have choices
a choice for a better life
so inside the pain the continue to drift
and things remain to their dismay
A choice they refuse to make
a broken voice they refuse to use
an empty smile they continue to fake..
