Epiphany

by Lance Hardy   Apr 1, 2006

Stepping away from my daily nothings
Into different dimensions and spaces
I've seen the thoughts of many men
And I want my own conclusion

One thought was of a scheme so grand
That I was just a little piece, a pawn
In a world filled with such unbelievable ideas
And that I should either follow my line
Or break off from my own machinery

Another was of unbelievable potential
Accomplish incredible phenomenons
Even when the system is against you
Nothing should stand in the way
Of my "false" hopes and dreams

Finally were past thoughts of mine
Of what has come and gone
What I've done with my existance
Have my grains of sand been spent wisely?
No, my regrets and failures haunt me

Still with every thought passing through
Time slips away, forever left behind
What can I do to fix my miserable life?
Simple, stop thinking so much

"Have my grains of sand been spent wisely?
No, my regrets and failures haunt me"

good metaphor with the grains of sand.

your ending actually seemed slightly more sarcastic and cynical than lighthearted, heh

Light? It's less depressing then some of your other poems if that's what you mean :]

I meant for a kind of lighter, amusing ending.
